OCAS was established as an art club in 1962, with the aim of encouraging local interest in art. We welcome members of all abilities and experience, including beginners. We provide expert guidance to help our members fulfil their artistic potential. We also seek to be supportive of each others’ efforts within the Society. The club has 30 sessions a year that follow school terms (3 terms of 10 weeks with 2 week half terms in the middle).
We meet in the Old Coulsdon Bowling Club (OCBC),
81 Coulsdon Road, Coulsdon. CR5 2LD
between 7.30 and 9.30 on Thursday evenings.
Members provide their own materials, and can paint or draw (eg. pencil, ink, watercolour, pastel, oils etc). We have a portrait model every week. If you choose to paint them, it is an additional £2 a week to cover model costs.
We always have a skilled tutor to guide us and there is always a chance to socialise over a drink in the bar.
We exhibit twice a year, in the summer at the Old Coulsdon Village Fair in Grange Park, and later in the year at the Bowling Club for a one-day exhibition. If you choose to exhibit, there will be no selection process, you just submit the work you want to be displayed for a small hanging fee.
Subscriptions are £150 a year, which you can make as one payment, or termly at £50 per term.
Your first session is free. Any new member joining mid year will be charged on a pro rata basis for the remainer of the year
